“Make You Feel My Love”, also known as “To Make You Feel My Love” is a song written by Bob Dylan for his album Time Out of Mind, released in September 1997. It was first released commercially in August 1997 by Billy Joel for his compilation album Greatest Hits Volume III. It is one of the few songs to have achieved the status of becoming a “standard” in the 21st century, having been covered by more than 450 different artists.[2] Cover versions have been recorded by Adele, Michael Bolton,[2] Neil Diamond,[2] Boy George,[2] Bryan Ferry,[2] Joan Osborne,[2] Teddy Swims, Garth Brooks, Shane Filan,[3] Kelly Clarkson,[2] Ane Brun, Michael Bublé,[4] Clare Dunn, Sleeping at Last,[5][6] Nick Knowles,[7] Pink,[8]and Lea Michele. In 2008, British singer-songwriter Adele recorded “Make You Feel My Love” for her debut studio album 19 (2008). It was released as the album’s fourth and final single on October 27, 2008, both on CD and vinyl, originally peaking at number 26. “Make You Feel My Love” is the only cover version on Adele’s debut album 19; she either wrote or co-wrote all the others. She listened to the song under pressure from her manager and loved it, although she did not want a cover version on her album, worried that it implies that she is incapable of writing enough of her own songs.[29] Piano is played by Neil Cowley and Adele is credited with bass.

The programs I’ve created teach kids how to achieve their musical dreams and become better, hardworking individuals through learning to play and perform rock, pop, hip-hop, blues, metal, and jazz music. Graduates of my programs have attended prestigious music colleges and universities. However, these programs have only been able to exist in middle-to-upper-class communities, where parents can afford to fund music education for their children directly.

While all of this has been a fantastic experience, it has left out kids who attend schools in underprivileged, more diverse communities without funding for modern music education. Schools and districts in these areas lack funding for the equipment, teachers, curriculum, and support necessary to facilitate rock-band-style programs like the ones I’ve created.

My mission was to tackle this head-on and bring these exceptional programs to students in economically challenged areas, so I sold my music schools and am launching The Van Tuyl Music Foundation to forever change music education. Our foundation will directly provide the funding for the equipment, instruction, curriculum, and support necessary to facilitate these programs.
